We are delighted to be corporate members of Women in Nuclear UK. WiN UK is one of over 30 international chapters under the umbrella of Women in Nuclear Global. Formed in 2014, WiN UK’s mission is to address the industry’s gender balance, improve the representation of women in leadership, engage with the industry, government and public on nuclear issues and support the industry with tools and information.
WiN UK focuses on three key objectives – attraction, retention and dialogue. They have also developed an Industry Charter. The Industry Charter allows companies like Mactech Energy Group to commit our own individual company pledge to show our commitment to diversity across the nuclear sector. Over 60 companies have done so, to date.
Why Are We Championing Women in Nuclear UK?
The government’s Nuclear New Deal launched in 2018 set out a target of achieving 40% female participation in nuclear by 2030 but females are still significantly under-represented in the industry. While there has been steady progress over the last 2-3 years’ we believe a lot more can be done and we want to be a standard-bearer actively and positively promoting females by matching candidates with suitable opportunities in the civil nuclear sector, therefore, increasing their chances of a nuclear career.
Women in Nuclear UK is the perfect organisation for us to partner with to develop strong mutual links to establish a healthy conveyor belt of candidates which we can promote for nuclear jobs with our extensive network of opportunities. It also enables us access to events where we can meet prospective candidates in-person.
Our portfolio of projects and clients continues to grow so we are well placed to offer candidates multiple choices on prestigious projects and be embedded with global nuclear companies who will provide excellent opportunities for career enhancement.
