Jun 18, 2024

A Milestone in Nuclear Workforce Solutions

Mactech Energy Group proudly announces the successful placement of 1000 professionals for the Hinkley Point C project. This achievement highlights Mactech’s essential role in one of Europe’s largest infrastructure projects, focused on delivering low-carbon nuclear energy to around six million homes.

Hinkley Point C: Pioneering Low-Carbon Energy

Hinkley Point C, located in Somerset, is a pivotal project in the UK’s strategy for sustainable energy. As one of Europe’s most significant infrastructure endeavours, it plays a crucial role in the nation’s transition to net zero.

This nuclear power station, currently under construction, features two European Pressurised Reactors (EPRs) and aims to generate a total electrical output of 3,200 megawatts (MWe). Once operational, Hinkley Point C is expected to provide secure, low-carbon electricity to approximately six million homes, playing a significant role in the UK’s efforts to reduce carbon emissions and achieve net zero by 2050

As one of Europe’s largest infrastructure endeavors, Hinkley Point C stands out for its scale and technological advancements. The project involves the use of over three million tonnes of concrete and 230,000 tonnes of steel reinforcements, making it a cornerstone in the nation’s transition to sustainable energy. The completion of Hinkley Point C is anticipated to be crucial in meeting around 7% of the UK’s electricity needs upon its completion, thus ensuring energy security and supporting the nation’s environmental goals.
